The group exhibit will be held on Saturday, February 25, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the BrickHaus art space located at 2602 Greenmount Ave, Baltimore, MD 21218.
Details for participating artists
Artwork is required to be dropped off either Wednesday, February 22 or Thursday, February 23 between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm at the BrickHaus. Please include with your 31 pieces any special instructions for hanging/display – in addition to an artist statement if you so desire. Include your name and optionally the inspiration/idea behind your project and price of your pieces with contact information for anyone who might want to purchase a piece. Fun-A-Day organizers will not be taking any commissions on sales. It will be the artist’s responsibility to finalize sales and handle the money exchange. We will do our best to direct interested buyer your way, so it is important you have your name and contact info with your work.
We are also asking for people to sign up to volunteer to help with hanging on those two days. Please Kat Johnston know at email@example.com and note what date and time you are available to help.
What is Fun-A-Day? A chance to make art (or just have fun) every day in the month of January with the artclash! collective–
The premise is simple: pick a project, do it every day in January, then show your work the following month in a big group show.
Started in 2004 by a group of friends in Philadelphia, Fun-A-Day began as a way to stay creative and motivate each other to make things through the winter. Now in its seventh year, Fun-A-Day has grown from its Philadelphia roots–in 2010 there were 10 Fun-A-Day shows, organized by different art collectives and groups of friends across the country.
If there’s not a Fun-A-Day show in your community, consider organizing one. It’s fun, easy and you’ll probably meet new friends!
Inspired by a group of friends from Pittsburgh (where Fun-A-Day has been a local art/punk tradition for a few years now), I’m working to pull together a Fun-A-Day show here in Baltimore. To make this happen, we need two things: participants and organizers.
How can I participate?
Pick a project by January 1! Your project can be anything– a photograph-a-day, a poem-a-day, a painting-a-day, a song-a-day or anything you’d like to do every day for a month. You can find ideas and share your own project on the Fun-A-Day website. Let us know what you’re planning and invite your friends to come up with their own projects. Everyone is welcome to participate in the show, which we’ll make sure is free to participate in and free to attend.
How can I help organize?
Help us get the word out! With only a couple weeks before January 1, we need your help to share the Fun-A-Day idea with Baltimore artists of all sorts. We’re also looking for a small gallery or venue where we could install a show. Most Fun-A-Day shows are just a one day event so we’re flexible! Finally, we need folks who can help hang a show and promote the event. Interested? Let me know in the comments or contact organizer Kat Johnston at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’re still working out the details for our Fun-A-Day Baltimore show (tentatively scheduled for February 24) but we set up a form so you can sign up to join us. What is Fun-A-Day Baltimore? Check out our about page for a quick introduction. To join the show, you must start your project on January 1 and register by January 18!
